Why Transgender Awareness training matters in Wales

The Welsh Government's LGBTQ+ Action Plan for Wales sets out an ambition for Wales to be the most LGBTQ+ friendly nation in Europe, and public bodies, schools and employers all have a part to play. Trans and non-binary people continue to report poor experiences at work and when using services. Staff who understand gender identity, and know how to respond respectfully, make a real difference to whether people feel welcome in Welsh workplaces and public services.

  • Supports the aims of the LGBTQ+ Action Plan for Wales
  • Helps meet the Public Sector Equality Duty, including for gender reassignment
  • Builds confidence for frontline staff in councils, health boards, schools and housing

Who it's for

All staff, line managers, HR teams and anyone in a public-facing role. It's suitable for local authorities, NHS Wales organisations, schools, colleges, universities, housing associations, charities and private-sector employers.

How it's delivered

Sessions are interactive and discussion-based, using realistic workplace scenarios rather than lectures. We create a respectful space where people can ask questions honestly. For in-house groups, we adapt examples, length and emphasis to reflect your sector, policies and priorities.
