Equality duties in England

Every course we deliver in England reflects the duties and context that apply there, so your people learn what's relevant to them.

  • The Equality Act 2010 protects people from discrimination at work and in services on the basis of nine protected characteristics.
  • Public bodies must meet the Public Sector Equality Duty, and listed bodies must publish equality information and set equality objectives under the specific duties for England.
  • Since October 2024, all employers must take reasonable steps to prevent sexual harassment of their workers.
  • Employers with 250 or more staff must publish their gender pay gap each year.
  • Sector frameworks add further expectations, such as the NHS Workforce Race Equality Standard and the Office for Students' requirements on harassment and sexual misconduct in universities.
