This session explains what hate crimes and hate incidents are, the impact they have on individuals and communities, and how staff can recognise, respond to and report them appropriately.
Hate crime and hate incidents harm individuals and whole communities across Wales. The Welsh Government funds the Wales Hate Support Centre, run by Victim Support Cymru, to support anyone affected. Staff who can recognise hate and respond well help people feel safe to report it and get the support they need.
Public-sector staff, housing, education and community safety teams. It's suitable for local authorities, NHS Wales organisations, schools, colleges, universities, housing associations, charities and private-sector employers.
Sessions are interactive and discussion-based, using realistic workplace scenarios rather than lectures. We create a respectful space where people can ask questions honestly. For in-house groups, we adapt examples, length and emphasis to reflect your sector, policies and priorities.

A hate crime is a criminal offence perceived to be motivated by hostility based on race, religion, sexual orientation, disability or transgender identity. A hate incident is non-criminal behaviour perceived the same way. Both can be reported, and both matter.
